A life-long commitment to a custom nature tattoo that is worth the investment
With a Ph.D. in plant ecology and a long history of art-making, I aim to bring my authentic appreciation of natural subjects to your idea with beauty and scientific precision. For tattoos, a pleasing outcome is tantamount—laser removal and/or coverup tattoos are costly in time, money, and emotion. My ongoing commitment to do my best work requires that I accept very few new projects each year to give each project the attention it deserves.
Logistics and Pricing
Tattoos by me typically range from $1500 to $15,000+ depending on the scale of the project. Pricing for your specific design will be determined via a conversation to understand your intent for size, complexity, and design support.
For example, a $1500 tattoo would be designed to your specifications, including limited revision, and be completed in a single sitting. This is typical of a piece with one relatively large element (e.g. a wildflower with leaves and flowers), two medium-sized elements (e.g. a bird on a tree branch), a single element that is highly detailed (e.g. a ruffly flower), or some similar combination of parameters.
Pricing increases with larger and more complex designs, which also entail more design support. A $5000 tattoo typically includes multiple conversations and substantial photo sharing to incorporate a few elements (e.g. four large plants with a bird and/or a couple insects) into one cohesive design. These designs are completed in multiple sittings.
A $15,000+ tattoo is typically a full back, full sleeve, or similar design with large and/or complicated arrangements of multiple elements. These designs are completed in several sittings and entail intense design support.
Regardless of the scale of the project, booking with me entails joining the wait-list by submitting your email address. When I am ready to consider new projects, I will reach out to invite all on the wait-list to propose their ideas. Following review, I will discuss further for the ones that fit my specialty and interest best.
No commitment necessary: submit your email address below to be invited to propose your tattoo idea when I begin accepting new projects. This may be my only booking opportunity for 2025.
Thank you for reaching out
"Few purchases last as long nor are as personally meaningful as a custom tattoo. Daniel takes this seriously at every step."
“You do tattoos for grownups. The whole experience is mellow and drama-free. This is how people in their thirties and beyond want to be tattooed.”
“Thank you for the time you're putting into these responses and for working with me on this; it's a totally above-and-beyond level of professionalism.”
“There is a moderate amount of time and effort in not only creating a beautiful image, but placement, perspective, size, location, and negative space are all important parts of his artistic process.”
“I've had a handful of artists create tattoos for me, but Daniel is in a class of his own. He is an artist who happens to do tattoos, so the whole experience is different.”
"The email/communication is what really sold me! You had such wonderful ideas for the tattoo I wanted and answered all of my questions in detail. I appreciated the in-depth responses I received, as I could imagine it took a while to draft the responses and answer all of my questions!! It made me feel well taken care of for the tattoo :)"
"You took the time before my scheduled session to get to know me and the expectations I had for my tattoo session. I knew you truly cared the moment we started communicating."
“He doesn't try to force anything on you and he is very low key but friendly. He stays in communication and follows up afterwards to make sure your tattoo is healing well.”
“Oh my goodness. Daniel was an absolutely wonderful tattoo artist. He was super responsive when it came to setting up the tattoo appointment, and he was very helpful when it came to bringing my idea for a tattoo to life! The design is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS.”
